Imagine immersing yourself for 40 days in living out justice and mercy among the poor.
How could your life be changed?
How might your walk with Jesus be different?
How might someone else’s life be blessed as a result?
summerXchange is a 40 day missions internship in the life and ministry of an InnerCHANGE team. InnerCHANGE seeks to make disciples of Jesus and develop local leaders who are marked by merciful action, transformative contemplation, and prophetic justice.
summerXchange is for young adults from all different places, cultures, ethnic backgrounds, economic experiences, and church traditions who want to step deeper into following God’s call in Micah 6:8 to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him.
You may have grown up in one of our neighborhoods and are wanting to step into greater service in your community or experience ministry in a city different than your own.
You may be studying in college and looking for experience that will influence how you approach your future career.
You may be in a season of discernment about a longer term calling to serve among people facing poverty.
We think you’ll find a place with us to discover and grow.
Here’s what one summerXchange participant, Kylie, had to say about her experience last summer in Guatemala:
I decided to say yes to SXC because of the uniqueness of it. When else in my life would I have the chance to live and learn about God in a context completely different than my "normal"? I knew that God would provide for me, covering all my fears and doubts.
We did a lot of ministry with the street kids who work in the local park. We befriended them, developed relationships, and encouraged them to become who God created them to be. We also did ministry with kids who got deported from Mexico, on their journey to find work in the United States. We mostly just developed friendships wherever we went, doing our best to exhibit God's unconditional love.
Words can't begin to describe how much SXC helped me to grow into the person God is molding me to be. I learned to rely on Him alone when my strength, confidence, or comfortability runs out. I learned of His wonderful provision in every situation. I was also changed in my appreciation for other cultures and how they have the power to teach us different things about God. I was challenged more than I have ever been in my life, but God was good in using those times to teach me more about myself and Him than I could have ever asked for.
This year’s summerXchange will run from June 15-July 31 in San Francisco, Oakland, Honduras, Miami, San Antonio, and Guatemala.
